An occasional bout of snoring is pretty normal, but snoring on a regular basis may be more problematic as it may indicate you could have a condition called sleep apnoea. The most common form of sleep apnoea is called obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA), a condition where you will stop breathing for several seconds before restarting, usually with a loud snort or gasp. This can occur many times throughout the night and you will not fully awaken but will prevent you from getting a deep restful sleep. This can negatively impact your general health which is why it’s important to get a proper diagnosis and treatment for snoring and sleep apnoea.
