Dental implants are an artificial way to replace natural tooth roots, replicating their form, function and providing a stable base for a replacement tooth. An implant consists of a titanium post that is precisely inserted into the jawbone and it is left to integrate and bond with the surrounding bone. Once this has occurred, an abutment is attached to the implant. This protrudes above the jawbone and supports the replacement tooth.
